free rsv vaccines for pregnant women

Are you pregnant?

From 3 February 2025, women from 28 weeks pregnant will be eligible for a free RSV vaccine to help protect newborn babies from serious illness.

RSV infects up to 90% of children within the first 2 years of life and is the leading cause of hospitalisation due to lower respiratory tract disease such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants aged <6months. Research has shown that vaccination of the mother during pregnancy reduces the risk of severe RSV illness in infants under 6 months by around 70%.

From 17 March 2025, a RSV vaccine will be available for infants not protected by maternal vaccination (further information to come).
